'27 Track T Paint and Assembly
This is a 1927 Ford Track T that I started building in February. It will utilize a Speedway motors fiberglass body. It will be powered by a 302 Ford engine backed by a Toploader 3 speed and an 8" Ford rear end. The chassis is basically mild steel rectangular and round tubing that I built. The front end will have a "suicide" spring perch with a 1937 Ford "I" beam axle, 1939 Ford spindles, Model "A" split wishbone, and 1956 F-100 drum brakes. I hope to have the car running in a few weeks.
I blasted the chassis, and my dad did the honors of spraying the Ford Blue urethane.

Great start - how are you planning to hang and spring the rear end?

Actually, the whole car has been built and dis-assembled, so my start was months ago. I actually went as far as to build all the brake lines before the car was painted to make it easier. The whole rear firewall, tranny tunnel and floor is also built and awaiting installation. The rear will locate via split '36 Ford wishbones and a panhard bar, and will spring with some antient Koni coil overs.

Re: '27 Track T Paint and Assembly
Got the rear end installed. I also managed to install the brake lines, adjust the brakes and fill the rear with oil.

The Dart steering box, Howe clutch M/C, and '68 Mustang M/C are all installed. I also installed the clutch and brake pedals.

The radiator and nose mount is installed. The nose will D'zus in place. The car will sit 3 inches lower than the picture.

The car is now a roller. The rear wheels are mid 70's Chrysler Cordoba's turned around backwards. They look like old Halibrands.

Speaking of wheels, this is the swap meet steering wheel I am going to use.

Drum brakes work too. It's just the old drum brake systems had the single reservoir master, which was a safety issue. He's got that covered with the dual bowl master.

Sorry, but disc brakes look like crap for the style of car I am building. The car weighs 1800 lbs., so they will stop just fine. I was going to use the single resevoir M/C, but there wasn't ehough room for it. Oh yeah, the engine has a points distributor, and a two barrel carb.

Re: '27 Track T Paint and Assembly
Cool pics, of your Track T Tom. But I question one thing with your Mopar cross shaft steering. We used these on circle trackers, mounted similarly before Profile boxes became readily available used. In fact, my Gremlin bodied vintage modified has a Mopar box. We've always mounted the pitman arm shaft end of the box in a pillow block of some sort because the three bolt holes from the factory that mounted the aluminum box to the Valiant or whatever had a tendency to crack from the center of the hole out without additional support.Perhaps you don't see this as a problem on a street car?

Re: '27 Track T Paint and Assembly
I don't see a problem with it in this car because of the weight. I pulled this box from a salvage yard 3500 pound car, and it didn't crack in all it's years on the street, so surely not in it's new life.
