Re: My 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente...
OK today I got the bug and finally got motivated somewhat. (First pic) I gutted the electrical wiring from behind the dash and engine compartment. I am planning on only wiring up what I need since I have decided to make this, in the years to come, more of a dedicated drag car. Of course the first few years it will still be streetable and get decent mileage, but I want to eliminate some of the mumbo jumbo so to speak. (second pic) I also removed the "custom" hydraulic clutch set-up I had. I am going back to the Zbar for the sake of insurance in finding parts if I break down with a clutch problem. (Pic 3-6) are my McLeod clutch and flywheel assembly. Pressure plate is diaphragm style, Clutch disc is a McLeod series200, and a 164 tooth steel flywheel.
Im gonna get the longblock and trans in place as soon as I get a clutch alignment tool. Unless someone knows a trick witchout the alignment tool?
In a couple weeks I can get my lifters ordered and the top end back together. And hopefully started in a month or so!!!
So the warm weather has officially hit and I am gonna be out in the garage more!!!
PS......anyone know of a good way to get hold those pesky square nuts? I only have ONE bolt still holding the driver fender on and I just cant hang on to that dang SQUARE nut. Drivin me nuts!
