'79 Ford Pinto project

Here are some pics of the progress of my Pinto project I've been working on.

My plans for this car started out fairly mild, and got a "little" wild! Not too far out there, but much more than initially planned.

I wanted something for both the street and the strip, and something that would turn some heads (as if a rumbling V8 Pinto in itself isn't enough!).

First, I wanted to swap the whole 79-80 front end of the car with the earlier 71-73 style. Next was to lose the giant bumpers. Also, the whole car needed to be stripped down and started fresh since there was some rust issues here and there. I had some ideas for a custom interior, and had the paint scheme figured out. It had to be a V8 (Ford of course!), but I initially planned a really mild , not much above stock small block, figuring I wouldn't need a whole lot to get a 2000lb car moving!

Now All I had to do was get started! So after a few years of procrastination, I did.

Along the way, my ideas changed, and new ideas came about. I found an original Pinto rear spoiler that I added, along with shaving off the rear bumper altogether. I also made some custom tail lights, and fabbed a cowl style scoop on the hood ( since the fiberglass hood was out of my budget!)

Here's some pics from when I started, to where I'm at now.
