'68 Ford LTD

Here is my Ford LTD. I purchased it for 500 dollars. For an upstate New York car, it is in good shape. It has a 390 2bbl engine and an FMX trans. The rear is a 9 in. I cleaned the tree sap and dirt off of it and surprisingly the paint is decent. It was originally green but is now black. The car has dual exhausts with Flowmaster mufflers. It will need a new carpet, front brakes (discs) some exhaust work and eventually a trans rebuild and cylinder head rebuild.

Cool, my first car was 68 LTD 2 dr with a 390 2 barrel. I dropped a Holley 650 double pumper on it and it would outrun most anyone on the street. I could run 110 mph in a quarter mile, and due to the tire smoke, and me being 16, the time wasn't very good, because I wanted the smoke off the line. So many memories in that car especially when it was parked on Friday and Saturday nights.

God I love four door sedans when they don't have the B-pillar. All the practicality of a four door sedan with pretty much the same styling of a coupe.... Very nice looking and what looks to be an easily restorable car....

Yeah I figure I will do the brakes, tune it up and fix the exhaust. It should be on the road in a few months maybe. I will leave the carpet for last. I thought bout the lack of a B pillar after I took those pics. For a four door the car does have nice lines.

Oh yeah the best part so far was when I used simple green to clean the pine tree sap off it. I washed it after and used some Rain X quick wax. The car looks pretty good for a driver now. The sad part was I bought it on a Saturday and the guy was gonna scrap it Monday. He was trying to sell it as a demo derby car, which is friggin nuts cause a car that old that is not rotted out is rare up here

Nice looking '68. But rustfree cars are what the derby guys want. Most part them out on eBay. But '65-'70 Galaxies make lousy crunchers anyway unless you throw leaf sprint on the rear. The rears of these cars are weak and head straight to the ground with the first hit otherwise.

Re: '68 Ford LTD

Folks talk bout the rears being weak, I guess this is true cause my brother had a 68 with a 390 and the frame broke before the rear end
