Thumbs up Re: '66 Mustang Coupe Project

OK - sorry....went back and saw the whole post now...WOW!!
Guess it wasn't as straight as I thought from the pics I first saw, but it's pretty good really. Definitely just repair the Qtr and tail panel - only replace if it's crushed or really rusted.
The mechanicals and supsension are killer - you've got a knack (and a Dad) for that talent!
Don't know if you've tried, but there's TONS of good autobody info on the web. AutobodyStore's forum is a great resource, but there's lots of places to learn some hammer and dolly skills. But as was said, some Black Epoxy Primer is the way to leave 'er for now!
Good luck on the rest of it - can't wait to hear how she goes!

Ed.

Re: '66 Mustang Coupe Project

thanks e-tek,
i live in northern California and the mustang is at my fathers house. to tell you the truth i dont know why i wrote the unfortunately mumbo jumbo.
yeah, the body work is what im saving for now. ill most likely have to replace both lower quarters, the tail panal (or have someone talented straiten it out), then fix a couple small spots that are on the drip rails and lower doors.
currently, im trying to get down and wor k on her as much as possible but my work schedule is killing me. i did measure for a driveshaft and now i just need to find a good place to order a nice sfi certified aluminum one.

hopefully ill get some more updates soon.
-gabe

Re: '66 Mustang Coupe Project

Hey man, I'm new to ths sight now... I have a very similar project in the works.. just not as far along mechanically. As far as that tail light panel is concearned, I'd ditch it. I think I'm going to have to eventually on mine. I was able to get the flat part to look ok, but I couldn't get the right bend where is cuts back in(if you catch my drift. Mine won't be a show car, so I can live with it for now as most of this area will be hidden by my bumper when I put itback on. But these panels are cheap, just a pain to install so I hear.
And in keeping with everyone else on this thread, I'll go ahead and throw out my hometown..Clovis, CA, but currently reside in WA.
