I saw yours all primered and ready for paint and I got jealous I missed three muscle car cruises and now looks like I'm going to miss another scheduled for this July 25th. I'm stumped on doing sheetmetal work on the quarter panels. What sux is that this car can be done in 1week if I had the resources I'm fix'n to do an Earl Scheib or Macco job on this car. Screw the sheetmetal and just bondo for quick fix LOL!

Thanks 70Cougar! I've started doing bodywork and hopefully she'll be ready for paint in a month or so.

Re: 1971 Mustang Mach 1

Just an update to let yall know the seats have new skin and front and rear bumpers, valances and spoilers aswell as mirrors, side marker trims and trunk are all painted. Gonna do the hood and doors next and then the rest of the body. Front windshield is enroute and according to PPG, I got the last Fastback windshield in stock :0) That should arrive on the Islands in 4 weeks. Still on schedule and should make the 2/6/10 deadline ;0)
Aloha

No sh$t! The glass companies here get their glass from either Carlite or PPG and Carlite is so ****ty that they no longer produce the 71-73 stang fastback windshield...go figure! Cross your fingers with me Gary!

Thanks GTChris!

Re: 1971 Mustang Mach 1

UPDATE 10/28/09: I got scammed out of some money, but it's my fault and this is what happens when you cut corners to try and save a few $$$. I was referred by a friend to an autobody person, who no longer has a shop, but works out of his garage. I asked a person at a paint shop if he ever heard of this so called autobody man and he said yes and that he does good work. With that, I was sold! He said no reciepts will be exchanged however, he will warranty the job, so an informal contract was made and with the agreement for the car to be completed in a months time and after over a month, a spoiler, both fender extension pieces and both valances were very poorly done. So bad that you can actually see shades of the primer and on other pieces, no bodywork done, but just painted over the dings and crap. After not hearing from the painter for two weeks, I decided to drop in and see the progress, well, more excuses and still nothing done. More money was given for "materials" but then the materials were used for other projects, cause nothing was done to mine but the materials keeps dissapearing. Well, I got fed up and managed to get back what I could and just take my losses. It's a hard and expensive lesson learned and not one that anyone should go through, but such is life and we move on. I'll be in therapy for the next 3wks so forgive me if I don't post any progress to this ongoing money pit. When I do return, my mind will be cleared and the Mustang project will go on! Take care and God bless!

Wow! That's HORRIBLE!!! I had a friend in a similar situation - double check your car to make sure there's nothing missing. I hope you didn't lose much.
