1971 Mustang Mach 1

Hey Gang,
It's time I started my "makin progress" thread. The build started Feb. 2, 2009 and I've made lots of progress wrenching on her day and night. Got the car from my Dad in the 80's and after blowing the motor, it sat for almost 20 years. It's about time I get this classic Mustang back on the road. Well, hope you like the progress. Lets start with the heart of the ole stang. It's a 351 Cleveland 4v w/ mild mods, such as cam, headers and edlebrock 750 carb. Pics of engine taken today after reinstalling the supports, shocks, coil springs, and shock towers. The only thing left to do is install the power steering cooler that's on order. Okay, for all you die hard concours restorers, the engine code sticker on the valve cover is not the right decal, but from the bar code sticker from the upper radiator hose LOL! The 351C 4v is on its way
Aloha,
DJ

Re: 1971 Mustang Mach 1

Here's pics of the engine taken Feb. 2, 2009 after sitting for all these years. Originally planned on overhauling the motor, but for **** and giggles, decided to try and fire her up and what do you know? After prepping the motor and giving it a lube job, she fired right up, so one major part of the restomod is hopefully out of the way. Well, heres the before pic LOL! Can't believe this is what I started with. It's amazing what a sandblaster and can spray paint can do LOL!

Re: 1971 Mustang Mach 1

Thanks bros! Today I'm buttoning up the front end and here's some before and after. All I'm waiting on to get her off jacks are some 15" tires since I can no longer run 14" with the disc brake conversion. Also some pics of things that I'm pretty much done with.

Thanks Mikelonis! Still making progress. Today I got some tires and after all these years, the ole stang is finally standing on its own. The driver's seat is installed and I'll try to move it tomorrow. Yeeeeeeeeehawwwwwwwwwww!
Thanks again,
DJ
