Re: 1967 Ford Country Squire Restoration

The interior is not much to look at yet. I have a complete 10 passenger set of seats that need to by painted with SEM. I just have not decided if I am going with the original Saddle color or something else. Leaning to saddle, although it is not my favorite color.

Here is the Dashboard exposed when first I started repairing all the cut wires, burnt bulbs, broken grounds, malfunctioning horn (there was a separate horn button installed under the dash since the one on the wheel quit years ago), and broken right turn signal cam.

Note broken piece missing next to thumb.

Sending this bezel out for plastic chrome and detail. I was going to paint it with SEM satin black and use eastwoods chrome paint, but by the time I do all that, it still wont look right. Should be about $155 done by the pros.

Re: 1967 Ford Country Squire Restoration

If you haven't got a new turn cam yet, I highly recomend this one from Mustangs Unlimited
Mustangs Unlimited - The Premier Source for Mustang, Shelby and Cougar Parts and Accessories

It's much better than the "help" replacement.

Pictures of 42 year old front mud flaps in amazingly good shape. (they are from the LTD) The ones from the wagon were in pieces. I blasted the metal pieces and purchased the rubber from Dennis Carpenter.

Re: 1967 Ford Country Squire Restoration

Hopefully I now have a fully functional 1967 Ford 2bbl choke. I built it myself out of copper pipe and fittings. You can see that I re-routed the heater hose next to the choke as well.

I used wire loom for now but I am concerned it may not handle the heat. I saw on some Mustang sites that sell a kit which shows that Ford used fiberglass on the front pipe. I wasnt sure how to hook it up, but I think this is close. Any comments on if its correct or not would be appreciated.

Just finished painting the air cleaner too.

Re: 1967 Ford Country Squire Restoration

I'm impressed with your restore. Great job!! I was at Dennis Carpenters last month and noticed they had several 67 dash bezels in their NOS section of the shop. Not sure what they're asking but it might be less than the cost to restore. I got mine off Ebay. Enjoying your posts and look forward to more.

Nice job.
Ol Family cruisers are so rare these days.
Glad to see you keeping one alive.
Your taking on a handful for sure as after-market support I imagine is nil.

Thanks for the support. Some guys get it, while others ask what the heck Im doing a resto on a wagon for..

As far as the aftermarket...what I see in most magazine parts lists...
"EXCEPT WAGON"
Parts suppliers may change their tune. Since the hemmings article on the 67 squire and wagons in general came out, more are looking to restore them. There are not a lot left. Most are Demo derby..crushed, or just rusted beyond help.

No one saved these cars. They were purely for utility and no one ever thought about saving them.

Tail light restoration

I have 3 tail lights that I made 2 good ones out of. I will likely have to replace both lenses as soon as I find some nice ones since there are some cracks at the top.

Here are some before and after pictures. I wet sanded by hand starting with 400 grit, then 600...800...1000...1500...2000 then Meguiar's Plastix

The look like watermelon Jolly Ranchers!! I was very happy with how they turned out.

Re: 1967 Ford Country Squire Restoration

Moved the wagon back to the body shop for final body panel assembly. Brand new windshield installed too!
Sorry for the dark pictures, I was down there on a Saturday and no lights were on.
