Talking My Son's 1968 Fastback

Just got home today with this 1968 Mustang Fastback. Only had 1000 miles on the motor and trans. Has a factory bench seat, A/C, P/B, P/S and used to be a 3 speed now a A/T. Will change back to a T-5 after he learns to drive it. Sounds great with the tri-y headers and flowmaster exhaust. My son is 13 so I guess I will be forced to drive for a while...ha-ha-ha Will keep you posted on progress just need to tighty up a few things under the hood, mostly TLC. Paint is good enough for him, especially in a high school parking lot. Notice he is sporting his Ford Muscle Tee. He is trying to figure out where he wants the FM sticker.

Re: My Son's 1968 Fastback

I was 16 when I got my 67 mustang, and its better now than it has ever been because of me. Never has it hit anything with me behind the wheel (knock on wood). Do your son a favor, keep the power low for a while. Upgrade the brakes and really teach him to drive well. I really recommend a performance driving course where he can learn to handle a car. They are pricey, but for your son's safety i feel its worth it. Also do what my parents did to me. Pay for his insurance ONLY IF HE DOES NOT GET ANY TICKETS. That kept me from speeding. Also have him do the work on it, if it is really his car he will take great care of it.

Why would you say that? Don't you think that the younger generation need to get into these cars?

Everyone is quick to tell people what to do like the man can't think for himself and take care of his own family. Chill out. Congrats on the new car, looks like it will be fun to tinker with while your son is near your side. I have a 10 month old daughter and can't wait for about 13 years down the road when I get something to work on for her. Hopefully I'll have a son too by then! Until then just me turning wrenches.

I am in Yakima, WA. The sig pic is of my niece, she is 20 now. She is sitting on the motor and trans out of my father in laws 66 GT coupe. We are going to have fun with the FB for sure.

This is the car I originally bought for my son when he was 5. 1968 GNS 4 speed, factory tach, bench seat car but I had to sell it to put a down payment on our house in 2002.

I bought this stang for my daughter Shelby when she was 2. 1968 C code coupe. Looks like a girls car to me. Still have this one and she is 10 now. We are going to restore it together.

You will have a lot of fun with your daughter when she gets older. I know I sure have a lot of fun with my kids.
