73 Comet I6 to V8 swap

Any of you veteran Maverick/Comet guys have any info on a V8 swaps (302)?. Brakes and suspension are not an issue as the car wwill get springs and discs etc.
Specifically looking at any unique V8 parts that may be hard to find or a pitfall ( X members etc?) Asking for a friend.

Thanks! Stu

Get the frame & block mounts and (if possible) the double-hump trans crossmember....and you're pretty much set. You don't HAVE to use the double hump X member, but it helps with dual exhaust.

----OR----

do like I did. Get some early '80's Tbird engine mounts, drop the motor down on the frame, level it out & drill the holes all the way through the frame. Then you'll have to fab up some spacers to go in between the frame & block mounts, but it's simple....and it works. I drove my turbocharged '74 Mav for a couple years like that, probalby 25,000+ miles and a few drag strip runs. Never had a problem. The double hump X member is still nice to have though...

Thanka for the info Mavman! I'm going to copy your post and send it to him.

I saw this site and sent it to my friend also. It repeats what you have said about the X member. I know they are very similar to Mustangs in many respects but I remember someone saying that there was a Xmember issue and of course the V8 cars are pretty rare compared with the I6 and the yards are pretty much bare of most 70's iron up here in rustland! with mine everything just kinda fit in, just finding the V8 mounts and everything. Nothing really out of the ordinary, besides if you wanna run headers and it's a colum shifter. if you're looking at a 351 or something like that, you'll have to cut the shock towers for clearance. if you're looking for something bigger you'd have to cut the shock towers completly and go into a mustang 2 front end
