Which Shorty Headers for 302- C4,

Definitely would like to keep the Column Shift

and Power Steering (if possible)

Which ones fit with least mods.

Good luck. The hedman 88400 shorties designed for the early mustangs fit, but the passenger header collector ends up pointing RIGHT at the firewall and the driver side will interfere with the column shift linkage. Been there, done that.

I dont know if there are any headers that will work with column shift, long tubes OR short tubes. I ended up making my own (they were turbo headers anyway).

I see that hooker super comps HOR-6110hkr
claim that they fit column shift automatics.

Have you or do you know of anyone thats tried them.

I may order a set and try them out.

Which Shorty Headers for 302- C4,

Doug Thorley Headers just came out with a set of 1 5/8 shorty headers designed just for Maverick / Comets. They are similar to the Headman 88408's but are made with heavier gauge metal, have thicker flanges, better ceramic coating and revised angles so they don't cause interference with the steering or the firewall. They also clear the spark plugs, stock shock towers and have easy access tothe header bolts. There are only two bolts that you have to tighten with a wrench instead of a socket.

For those who are curious, these headers are designed for the stock exhaust port heights and bolt placement. They do not work with GT40-P heads because of the revised plug angles on these heads.

BTW, I do not work for Doug Thorley. I do have the prototype headers and have tried them on many different cars and combinations. Very nice headers, much better than the Headman 88408's that I had originally purchased for my Maverick.
