Mustang II front end install
I did one. It's not easy, but well worth it in terms of making space for a bigger engine! I posted some pictures over at maverick.to. Do a search for "Backhalf installed" and you find some pictures. 3rd page has the M2 pictures.
That said, it is possible to buy a mustang 2 front crossmember specifically set up for a Maverick's frame rails. Just remove the old factory rear suspension, jack up the M2 X member, measure a few things and tack it in. I wish I had done that in the first place, but I learned a lot on my first big project. Next time I will use struts instead of A-arms...and go with a complete chassis kit rather than just backhalfing and reworking 30 year old front suspension components.
By the way, this Sunday I am going to pick up a '70 Maverick parts car. Body is OK (I need the right door and RF fender for sure), right side quarter is shot but the rest appears to be "ok". Steering box is gone and the brakes don't work. Had a 200-six and a 3 speed column shift, 8" 4 lug rear and 4 lug drums on front. If you want any parts off of it, send me a PM. I am going to get what I want off of it and scrap the rest. No title!
