MontegoMan,
How much HP would you guess - just looking at the engine? 300-325?

Re: First Class Sleeper - Maverick

My parents had a new '72 Comet 4dr LDO option with extra insulation, etc, 302, PS, AC , basically everything everything you could get on one, it weighed just
under 3300 on the city dump scale-I feel comfortable saying this on a Ford only site without getting some smart-@$$ posts like "ya shoulda left it there"

That's just at the weight i would have figured. Seems there may be a pretty good margin of error on some scales......

I would have to guess the margin for error on the city dump scale would be about the highest you could ever find. Maybe its accurate measuring the change in vehicle weight, but of any scale i can think of, it would probably be the least reliable.

Here in NY all scales are routinely calibrated by the Countys Weights and measures department. they may not be in other states or counties.

So, what does YOURS weigh?

BTW, I bet your Maverick catches plenty of folks off guard, lots more under the hood than someone might think.... Nice.

Its still going together. Im hoping 28-2900. Im making a fair effort to remove all excess weight and select light parts.

Thanks.

Re: First Class Sleeper - Maverick

My 75 4dr w/302/c4 and me in it(200lbs)-3350
my 75 2dr w200/3spd and me in it-3120
Both cars were not gutted in any way, steel wheels and the 2dr had a spare in it.
The 4dr was weighed at an NHRA track scale and the 2dr was weighed at work(truck scales),the work scales go in 20lb increments, but are calibrated monthly. So I can't see the 3700lb Mav unless it was a....
74-up 4dr
351C
AOD/C6-
A/C
9" rear
4 wheel discs
all that stuff could push one up there for sure.

Re: First Class Sleeper - Maverick

Back to the topic, it may not be a barnburner but...... that is one of the nicest cars built. The quality is tops. The guy who built it is probably a member here because he is into Boss 2 mustangs. On the Maverick site he went by GSJohnson, super nice guy on that board, wish he would have kept it and hung out with us more.

Re: First Class Sleeper - Maverick

after i finish my other 2 mavericks and invest in a new daily driver im going to make this car into a sleeper

gonna leave it looking like hell in and out but its getting a 350hp 302/c4 with stock manifolds and quiet exhaust

ive also considered buying a huge ricer spoiler and loud ricer muffler as part of the swap
