I really like this little sleeper.Probably one of the better examples I have seen in a long while.

Re: First Class Sleeper - Maverick

that's a clean car but i have seen better sleepers...i own an awsome sleeper my self...well it used to be a sleeper untill i got into the exaust and hood scoop of it, but it's a 68 Falcon Stationwagon with a 460ci big block in it. it's awsome cuz no one suspects gettin beat by a wagon, witch makes it that much better

Re: First Class Sleeper - Maverick

That is a nice looking Maverick and I am sure it's fast with that engine. But that baby blue? I think that's a little too much baby in the blue for even a sleeper.

Re: First Class Sleeper - Maverick

Its a 5.0 Cobra engine but that is not a lot of Hp for a 3700 pound car.
I know quite a few guys that have more hp in their Mavericks with old school 302's. One of them is even nicer looking - but neither is worth $10000.

Question Re: First Class Sleeper - Maverick

I don't mean to be disagreeable, but I can't believe that a V-8 Maverick could really weigh 3,700 lbs. Factory literature says my '69 Torino with a big-block weighs 3,775. That Mav MUST be 300 or 400+ lbs lighter. Some of you Mav fans must have this down cold, what do they really weigh???????

Re: First Class Sleeper - Maverick

A friend of mine weighed his at the scales:
74 maverick, 2 dr, 302, Auto trans = 3725 pounds.
He didn't believe it until then either. Take your car to the scales......

Wink Re: First Class Sleeper - Maverick

Well Paul, I'm gonna have to take your word for it, especially since no one else seems willing to jump in. I'm astonished to find out they're that heavy!

As far as weighing mine, gimme about 5 years to get it running since it hasn't run since 1984 and I'm redoing the body, connecting the unibody structures, caging it, and building a Paxton-blown 460. I'll be a while....

Ummm, that's not a Cobra engine. That's a 5.0 intake, with a 55mm mass air, and 19lb/hr yellow top injectors; whereas, the Cobras have a completely different inkake (Cobra specific), a 70mm mass air, 24lb/hr blue top injectors, etc.

Re: First Class Sleeper - Maverick

All I can attest to is what the scales say. I suggest you weigh your car.
