I need a carburetor recommendation?

What would be a good choice carburetor(cfm) for a 289 hipo motor with automatic c-6 tranny. Also would I need a double pumper? Btw, the motor is in a 71 mercury comet gt. Thank You!

The 289 and 302 run good on a 600 CFM vacuum secondary carb as long as you are not turning over 6000 rpm. Above 6000 you may get better top end from a 720 CFM vacuum secondary carb. Unless this is a race only vehicle you are not going to need a double pumper.

I notice your retired and your speciality is holly carbs. Please be specfic and what model or series # carb would you use and no I do plan on going over 6000rpm. Thanks.

Street/strip - 650 DP.

My stock 650 DP woke my mild 306 right up.
