thanks for the links ixtlan. It looks like I'll be able to get by with just the quarter skins. I couldn't tell from the pictures in the link, but the skins come with flanges at the door jamb end, quarter extension end, and a wheelwell flange, correct. They seem to just be lacking the trunk flange and roof pillar flange.

That is correct every thing from the upper edge up is gone, I have the full quarters because I wanted an undetectible quarter there is no way for any pro to know that they are reproduction's, except i tell most of them i am not going to lie they are installed the same way that the factory does it. but a skin would be easier to do a skin, the edges in the trunk are a nightmare to line up

Well I got a Great Original 65 Hood today it was not a bad price.
it is in decent shape the front of the frame (by the lip) has 3 little 1/4 inch rust through spots but the I guess you would call it the skin is in excellent condition little surface rust no non factory bondo on it.
it is in great condition besides the rust on the frame but that is a really easy fix. I was looking at $300 for a fiber glass hood, $250 Repo, and $500 ford tooling, (the prices includes shipping $80-$100) But I got this one from LA mustangs (small out of home mustang restoration business) down here in Utah. He got it off a car he restored were the owner wanted a fiberglass hood on the car and the owner did not want the hood. any way it was $150 bucks
Ill get you guys pictures tomorrow

Here is the pictures of the Hood I got and what I did today
Here is the pictures after I got it

I scrubbed the new hood, and the fenders, from top to bottom with a Scotch-Brite pad and Dish Detergent to get any wax grease or dirt that might be on them.

Then I let them dry out for an hour.

Then I took them in the garage and wiped the hood down with wax and grease remover.

Got my polisher/sander with 80 grit paper and got started
To get to this point took about 25 minutes with the Polisher/Sander at around 2000 rpm
Make sure not to let the sander sit in one place or it well start to warp and burn through the metal

Here is about another 25 minutes later

Wiped it all down with wax and grease remover and there it is.
Ill update you guys when I get to the back side

Richard

After washing the fenders down i started to scrape the undercoating off it. Here are the pictures after pressure washing the Fenders

Here you can see the Rust through in the bottom left corner

Here I scraped all the Under Coating off with a Gasket Scraper and any thing that did not come off i used a heat gun to loosen it up so I could scrape it off

Great work, are you going with a stock restoration or a street thumper?

After stripping some of the paint off on the 4th I started to patch the frame of the hood yesterday.

Here are the before pictures.

As you can see here there is a 1/4 inch rust through spot right after the first oval hole from Center , And a second 1/2 inch rust through spot before the last oval hole and a third 1/4 inch rust hole at the very edge. And moving down to were the hood latch bracket mount is to the right right next to the first oval hole there is a 1 inch rust through spot.

Here is the picture after the patches on the driver side of the hood are in.
After the first oval hole there is a patch 1 inch height by 2 inches width, And after the second oval hole there is a patch 3/4 inch height by 2 inches width

And on the passenger side of it there is one 1/4 inch rust through spot before the 3rd hole from center, And moving down to the section were the hood latch bracket mounts the left side in the raised line at the very tip there is a 1/2 inch hole

And the after pictures of the passenger side after patches.
Before the second hole from center there is a 1 inch by 2 inch patch.
And if you look down into the hood latch mounting spot there is a patch at the very tip of the raised spot that is 2 inches high by 2 inches width.

Here is the after picture of the hood

All the patches were sprayed with 3m weld-thru primer on the back side and then MIG welded

Here is a picture of the hood that was wrecked in the front driver side corner and then fixed This is how my dad bought it in the late 70s

It is in bad shape after 10 years all the bondo started to lift because the person who fixed it left holes from the puller in there that aloud the water to wick up under the bondo, If you look at that line I drew in the dust all that is covered in bondo some places as thick as 3/8s of a inch deep it is going from the very front all the way to about middle of the hood

Here is the picture of the patch I cut out to put on the new hood to show you were the patch is on the new hood, I cant see it on the new Hood so im sure you can't either lol

Well my plan was to have most of the body stock with a gt350 hood but now that I got my original ford hood I am not going to cut it up just for the scoop. I am going to go for more of the mustang GT look But no GT emblems or Pony door panels. Just the seats and I got a GT Duel exhaust rear apron

I am going for the wolf in sheep's clothing look its going to be a,
good day street driver/strip/show car
