ok this maybe a silly question but on a scale of 1 to 10 what would you rank pulling the fenders off and tacking a new one into place? i would be guessing its pretty straight forward and easy. Welding would not be a problem for me as I have done welding for a while now.

I will be doing this as my winter project. I need to replace both rear quarters.

Thanks

Love the work

There terrible there not to bad to get off just a lot of welds to drill and broken knuckles ones you do one side the other is not to bad but back on they suck you have to fabricate edges and stuff there a little bigger then original they just don’t fit at all and like my ones I got them off I found more and more was rusted way to bad to fix but I think if the wheel wells stayed in it would have been easier to do so that you don’t have to fit inner wheel well assemble every thing remove every thing then fit outer wheel well assemble every thing remove every thing then fit the quarter then remove quarter tack the inner the reassemble all of it then remove quarter tack outer put the quarter back on check fit then remove and weld the wheel wells in completely then put the quarter back on and try to fit it to every thing

1 to 10 1 being worst 10 being easiest

I would give quarters a 3 if just doing quarters and a 1 if doing wheel housings to

Thanks

Well thankfully my car has been a socal car and has not been driven for 14 years, the wheel wells are fine the trunk extensions do need to be replaced one rear back frame needs to be replaced, and both quarters need to go, I could go with a skin on the driver side its just the bottom is all rusted out but a whole quarter seems to be a bit easier. I would also think using some steel scrap tubing as supports or tacked into place would keep flex down.

Where do you plan on getting all the interior for the Ratstang? The body on mine is in good shape, just needs to be sandblasted and painted, but the interior is in really rough shape. I have found door panels and carpet kits, but the dash is going to be the biggest problem for me.

Looks like you have done some great work.

Looks most excellent. I have a 66 down in St. George you can work on this winter. New rear qtr skins, wheel wells, trunk corner, rear tail panel. Have to finish installing the floor pans and the seat platforms. Have it on a trailer already. Just don't have the time to do it myself right now. Got some extra parts. Maybe we can work a deal out.

Well Sharpshot71 I am going to get most of my parts from Mustangs Unlimited, California Mustang, and National Parts Depot.
Just get some of there catalogs, Some of them have better prices then others but these three seem to have the best deals just get all of them look and find out who has the best deals on what parts you need.

Also dont forget www.Paddockparts.com or www.yearone.com some of there body parts are cheeper than others. Like california mustang charges 44$ for the front of shock tower inner fender where the battery tray bolts in and on paddock parts they charge 29$ sometimes the price vs shipping is what can factor your choices. Purchasing is what I do for a living so I always check every source I can.

WOW, man you are doing a MAJOR rebuild my hat is off to you. I am also in the process of rebuilding my stang but not to the point you are. I am putting in new framerails, shocktowers, torque boxes, floors etc....
I have my progress up on a web site at:

It was nice to see how you are doing thing and compare it to what I am doing. Also helps to keep me motivated!

GREAT WORK!
