fuel pickup interchangeability

I've got a 66 mustang with the 5/16" fuel pickup in the tank. I noticed in the fordmuscle tech article on project 67, they used a late 67 pickup that came with a 3/8" line. Would the late 67 style with 3/8" plumbing fit correctly to my 66 fuel tank?

'65 to '68 us the same sender. In '69 the tank was enlarged and in '70 it was enlarged again so those senders are unique. So yes would be the answer. Stu

I visited the websites of all the usual mustang vendors, they have the same sending unit listed for 64-68. Only problem is, they all seem to be 5/16.

Dallas Mustang sells a 3/8 unit for less. It does not say on the web site, but I called them and they measured it at 3/8. I think you will find most of todays reproduction sending units are 3/8.
