T5 with cable clutch and headers???

Anyone have a T5 with a cable clutch and headers? I just installed the T5 and clutch cable but I have NO clearence for the cable without it hitting the headers. I'm running a set of flowtech headers and was wondering if you have this setup what headers are you using?

thanks!
Joe

FPA is offering a set of headers that will clear cables and R+P systems, along with scattershields. 1.75" primaries too. The cost is a little pricey, but they look like they are worth it.

I have seen that many headers are only usable with auto trannies. There are a set of Hedmen headers that work with both. They are pretty cheap so i dont know how good they are. Check it out at summitracing.com, they had them listed in the catolog.

Check out the headers they have on project 11.99. I think they have a cable clutch and headers as well.

T5 with cable clutch and headers???

Ii just installed a T5 on my 66 and it has a set of Flowtech headers as well.
Best way ive found to fix it other than buying new headers is to wrap the 2 tubes its going to be running between. Putting some header wrap on teh cable itself isnt a bad idea as well.
Also, use the mounting bracket on the cable, and mount it in sucha way that it holds the cable inbetween the 2 primary tubes.

T5 with cable clutch and headers???

Thanks guys!! I figured out how to run it using the flowtechs. Pass1over..I did what you did and wrapped the pipe and the cable. attached the cable to the shock support and resused the old support bracket to help keep the cable between thte pipes. I'm still in the process of putting everything back together. Is everyone pleased with the performance of the T5?? I just have to make a longer shifter!!

Very pleased with it so far. We'll see how long it holds up though.

As for the shifter handle, I found a guy that modified an original 3speed shifter handle to fit on a T5 shifter. Didnt want to pay the $140 they want for a retro T5 shift handle. If you cant find out, just get some 3/8 rebar and bend it so it works out, LoL.

Don't laugh....the car I got the tranny from wasn't shifitng right so they purchased a new tranny. When i went to remove the tranny the shifter was loose...I mean loose! So I told them that's why it wasn't shifitng properly. They said just install the new trans with the stock shifter. So I made a shifter out of 1/4 steel and it worked great!!! Won't break that shifter!!!

Nope, not at all. I laughed, but was being kinda serious about it. If I couldnt find a shifter handle for mine, I was gonna do exactly what you did. No way was I gonna pay $140 for one.
I am using the stock shifter as well on mine. I bought a Steeda one, but it wasnt for a T5, although the person selling it thought so. Oh well, ended up making like $15 off their mistake.

Is it just the clutch cable that gets in the way of the headers? Becaue i am putting a T-5 in my '73. It doesnt hit the clutch fork, just the cable? I guess i will probably just get the hedmen headers. But i do want some options?
