71-73 fenders

can anyone tell me what the diff. is in 71-72 and a 73 fender is? I guessing it is to do with the way the grill mounts but im not shure.

IIRC the '73 is different at the front edge due to the 5 mph impact bumper mandated for that year. The '73's have a unique "endura" bumper that differs from the '71-'72. Stu

yep, the Capt's memory is correct once again! The opening area of the 73 bumper area is slghtly larger, but will still work with a 71 or 72 bumper, and the gap is somewhat filled up by the little rubber guards that mount in behind the bumper. I used a set off of a 73 once on my 72 fastback, fit up no problem, all the grill mounts if I remember right were the same. the only difference was the lower valance, the 73 didn't have the running lights in the valance, so the brackets you would find there for a 71 or 72 are missing.
