Ford did not have the VIN on the motor like GM. Also the same motors were often used in the Mustang Fairlane Comet Torino Montego and Cougar so they aren't model specific. However. Certain cars and certain years would have specific casting and part numbers. That is to say you could have for example a C5OE ( 65 Fairlane) part on a '66 mustang BUT you wouldn't have a C7ZE ( 67 Mustang) part on it. Also the casting dates and or date stamps should usually be within a month or two of the cars build date as the motor would be cast built and shipped from the engine plant to the final assembly for the build date of that car.
