Disc Brake Conversion Components

I see a Disc Brake conversion kit here locally for $400 bucks... Is this the right range for something like this? It say's for mustang's so I figure it's for this age range, and was wondering on opinions about what a pair of spindles and rotors and calipers in NEW condition are going for now-a-day's...
I'm always looking to make a buck somewhere and if these are worth it I'll snatch them up, then re-sell them...

Thanks Fella's!

New? Off of what? Granada?

SSB?

I bought a used set of spindles, calipers, disks (et. al.) for about $200 a couple of years ago - 1968 Cougar (will bolt right intto Mustang of course). But left the stock setup gathering dust and went SSB for $850 instead - which was a bargain at the time.

I guess what i really going to make a difference is what year is it for? For the most part, yes the parts are interchangable, but there are differences, mostly in the spindles. I think it's the 65 through 67 are the same, the 68 and 69's are the same, and then come the 70 through 73 spindles. I think mostly the difference falls into the tie rod end, with later models using heavier units, but still relatively easy to change too. Haven't seen too many places selling new (reproduced) or even NOS pieces, all I've found are used pieces, but here is what I have seen:
Stock spindles on Ebay can range from $100 all the way up to $300 a pair (just depends on what year you have, and who is looking for them.
Calipers are usually available for about $50 to $65 a piece rebuilt.
Boosters can be around $175 to $450 (depending on the year, and wether or not a master cylinder is with it or not)-and the core charges vary from $150 up to $250, depending on the company you are looking at.
If it has the brake pedal too, repops of that are getting about $75 new, I've seen used ones get $40 to $50 on Ebay.
Heck, repop dust shields are going for $50 a piece in most catalogs.
I just tried twice (with no success) to sell my collection of brake parts on Ebay from a 69 Cougar (Booster, 2 calipers, 2 spindles, 2 dust shileds and the pedal) and had no response...and I was starting fairly low at $120 plus shipping.
I will just wait it out and try again later, the interest in these type of items comes and goes quickly...sooner or later I will find a buyer, and next time on Ebay, I could fetch a lot more then my starting price...it's always about supply and demand. And with many parts being repoped lately stock pieces are usually over looked...for now anyway!
Also, what could make a difference in pricing for the aftermarkets is what all is inlcluded, many are the types that reuse the drum spindles, and they use a mounting bracket to attach the disc brake caliper. So if it's a kit with a new spindle, that will make it more expensive than a kit that just adds a braket to a stock spindle...
Speaking of spindles, has anyone lowering the front end on their Mustang (any year) and used one of the FatMan dropped spindles? I've seen the ad in Rod & Custom magazine, and the advertise a drop spindle that will lower the front end, and not need you to do anything but use the spindle (no need to use the Shelby method of redrilling the control arms mounts), and I believe all the stock parts are reused.

I put Granada Spindles on my 1966 Mustang. I am in the process of swapping out to 1966 v-8 drum spindles and some type of bolt on disk brake kit. My 1966 was a drum I-6 car. I converted to roller cam 5.0 w/carb. After you install 15x7 rims, heavy front and rear sway bars and 620# springs (lowered the car) it will bump steer. on narrow 1965/1966 Mustangs - the pivot points for the tie rods are different.

In a stock only suspension - the bump steer was not noticable, but the upgrade items listed above - wow - feels like I am driving on ice at times. Smooth interstate - OK , but narrow rolling country road, it is like driving on ice.

Stay away from Granada Spindles for 1966 and before Mustangs. When you upgrade - you will redo.
