289 swap
You know, the six isn't a bad thing to have. Maybe swap in a 300 cubic inch six and hop it up a bit ( anybody here know if the 300 six will bolt in using the existing mounts and tranny?). They sell cams and performance parts for the six's, I've seen headers (they actually make it into a dual exhasut!), cams and four barrel intakes for them...so you could have a bit of fun with a little six! I didn't see it for sale, but a few years ago, I saw a Mustand running a six, with a six pack! It looked like it was three Weber 48IDA's on it, and it was pretty! Probably just a touch over carbureted for the street though!
You still might consider the suspension upgrades, always nice to know that the car will handle and stop (that is very important too!! ) like it should...and just think of the looks on everyones face when they see a six under the hood thats been hot rodded!
I don't remember the link, I am sure someone here will though, but there is a forum online that is just for six's...lot's of performance gurus there is I remember right, plus if you can use a 300, you really can't deny it's durability...strong little buggers! I always loved that there was a six cylider (the 300) that was almost as big as my small block in my Mustang (a 302). Bset of Luck to you!
Mike
