Heads + Blower

Have you considered the AFR 225's? They have 2.08" intake valves...so you'll have to pay attention tot he piston/valve clearance. You may not have a problem since you're trying to keep compression down with the blower. My $0.02.

I have looked at the 225's, however the intake ports are 2.25" by 1.40", which might be a little more than I can hog out of my intake (my manifold's ports are currently roughly 2" by 1&quot.

Looking at this in an uneducated way: Is it easier to blow thru a straw or a 1/2" copper pipe? I say port size dictates flow volume. In a naturally-aspirated engine, the flow rate of the cylinder heads greatly affects the performance of the engine, due to the volumetric efficiency of the entire engine set-up. You are using a blower which will change the naturally-aspirated engine to forced-induction set-up. You have Cleveland 4V heads (nice!) which are worthless on a street engine under 4000rpm. But, with a blower you take advantage of the port size/volume at a much lower rpm hence, utilizing the port size to it's full potential. I wish I could give mathematical formulas to help but I'm not that savvy. Oh, by the way, which intake manifold are you using for the Cleveland Heads? My cousin is interested in a blower for his Cleveland build. Can you tell me where I can fine one. Please inform.. Thanks in advanced!

I hear ya about the straw/pipe situation, but I suppose you'd have to look at it like the pipe (Cleveland's) have a restriction whereas the straw (AFR's) don't in this example?

Sorry, I don't have a blower intake for the Boss setup - it'd have to be fabricated from a Boss tunnel ram intake or some such (I've actually seen one on eBay from Canada and it sold for only about $500 - couldn't believe it). The intake was another thing that factored in to the project, but I knew that from the start. My decision was down to the 4V heads with a Boss-style intake ($) or a Windsor-style aluminum head with my existing intake. Considering the flow numbers of the AFR heads, the weight savings, and the convenience of reusing my intake, it's probably the smart way to go.

I wish you luck on your build and keep us updated on your progress. I would like to see the numbers your motor turns out!
