PROPER ORDER OF PISTON RINGS ! ! !
Clamp the piston and connecting rod assembly into a bench vise for holding. Wrap rod in rapgs to stop possible sscarring. In looking from the piston dome, usually the order is to install the oil control ring first, then upwards towards the main compression ring. Watch it here too in that there is an upper and lower surface to each ring. They may be random set into the box, but that is not how they are placed. Ought to be instruction packaged with your purchase.
Rotate the gaps as per official manual, or per any included poop sheet that came along when they were purchased. Honest Charley Speed shop had a special poop sheet on where to place gaps for more Go.
Wash down the piston/rings/connecting rod. Then shoot oil onto everything. Down into the grooves too. Exercise everything, then place into common clear plastic kitchen bags until installation time. Later on, give one final look as to ring gaps before putting on the ring compressor. Oil the cylinder walls, then whack em in. Shoot a ring of oil around top of dome gap, then on to next one.
Keep your hands clean when installing them too.
