Another question; Should I use silicone, A gasket, or both in between the housing and the pumpkin?

I couldn't find copper washers when I installed mine without buying a complete rebuild kit $$ so I used extra Permatex Blue around the studs. So far no leaks

The Copper Gaskets are available at ANY parts store. THey are generally used for brake lines, but come in a box of assorted sizes.

Thanks guys. I called the shop I had the work done at (Rear End Specialties in Santa Clara) and they said to just use silicone with no gasket and not to bother about the copper washers. Thats the same way the rear was put on before so thats the way it went back on this time too. Thanks for all the responses though, they were all helpful!

All I used was Permatex Blue w/o a gasket and it has never leaked. That was about 4 years ago.

FWIW, the copper washers are available at any hardware store...you don't need automotive specific washers. I used brass washers on my 9". You're just trying to get a good seal between the bottom of the nut and the cast surface of the pumpkin.
