Gear vendors overdrive anyone??

I've been thinking about putting a Gear Vendors overdrive unit in my '67 mustang and i was wondering if anyone on here has any experience with them? I've been contemplating a 5-speed, but i like the toughness of my toploader. Any suggestions, comments, experience????

I run one in my '68 and it's great for cruising on the highway. To try and shift them like a six speed on the street is almost impossible because of a delay in the shift, but it is possible, but not really worth it. I would definitely get another one!

I have one w/the C4. A few gotchas were getting the Lokar shifter to shift properly and mounting one of the control switches. Still trying to get the Lokar to 'act' right. The Velcro pad was useless. IMHO the GV is a better option than an AOD. Of course, no transmission system is perfect.

I know it's kind of hard to see in this pic, but I mounted my switch in my dash where the vents would normally be on an A/C car. It's right above the radio and I think it's a good location and easy to access. Just had to carefully cut into the plastic and slide the switch in so it mounts flush.

Ill boast a 5 speed here, because you can add a g-force gear cluster kit to a T5 and make it bulletproof. The gearvendors are pretty cool though and in you cas maiby a little less work to install.

Go to GV's website then check EBay.

GV now has a new control module that will take care of the shifting for you. Supposed to be real smooth and takes the human error out of trying to time the split shifts. Might be worth a look.

There's another company out there that offers an overdrive without the gear splitting function (never really understood the need for it on anything other than a big truck hauling a heavy load). I recall it was cheaper too. Can't remember the name though. Another question If you were building from scratch wouldn't you almost be better off with a built Aod or aode
