66 Tail Light Modification

We all know how Dim the mustang taillights are... would hate to have someone rearend ya....

I had a couple of spare tail light buckets for my 66, so I buffed them up, sprayed a little crome paint for a reflective surface, and added a second light bulb socket.

The tail light buckets have intermitant bulbs sockets, crappy holder design. So I updated with newer sockets and just cut two new holes, and epoxied them in place. Fits real nice inside and the bulbs are easy to change.

Plus: They are wicked bright now..... gatta give them chevy boys something to look at......

66 Tail Light Modification

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I will add a couple of pictures for a battery turn off switch in a 65/66 tail light, just in case someone is doing a search.

handy for a street/strip car:
Remove the street lens, snap on the switch handle/lens with hole and you are ready to race.

No problem, your not hijacking.....

In your first photo, is that a tool you insert into the tail lens to turn the switch? You really gatta try that crome paint inside your tail lens... my buckets looked like yours just yesterday.

I think you just showed everyone your secret switch....

I was using tin-foil around the bulb area for a long time to make it a bit brighter and it helped a lot, it made a nice look with the crinkels , but this with two light bulbs is much, much brighter.

Use 2057 bulbs too as they are brighter than 1157's. Stu

It's not a tool, just the on/off handle that comes with the switch. I had to extend the shaft a bit, so that the handle is on the outside of the lens. In an emergency the battery can be isolated with a flick of the switch from the outside of the car.

I will give the buckets a shot of that chrome paint.

I've got one for you guys.

White 67 tail light lenses. Not clear, not /gasp! 'Altezza' or whatever that is. White. I see them around for the 65/66's sometimes, but none anymore for the 67's! I had a pair for my old black 67, and they look absolutely incredible with red bulbs. They just really set the car off to have matching lenses front and back.

This is the kind I mean:

Only for a 67!!!

If you can find them, or have an old set...lemme know lol.

Thanks =)

Cris
