Power brake upgrade

Ok I am on a budget and plan to add the front disc brakes. But for right now I can only afford to add a power booster. My question is can I use a Master cynlinder for front disc brakes now with the front drums so I do not need to purchase a new one when I finally get all the parts for the front disc upgrade?

No.

Is your original drum master bad?

Re: Power brake upgrade

No I believe it is fine. I actually meant since I have manual brakes right now can I Use a Power Booster meant for front disc brakes. I read that I can use the original master cylinder since it is from a 68. Is that right? Also I have one other question. When I look at Autozone they have a power booster with or without a clamp band. What is the difference? Newb to brake info.

Re: Power brake upgrade

I believe the clamp band style works for both drum and disk. You may need to swap your brake pedal to as the power brake pedal arm had a different fulcrum point. You don't have to but you might find the brakes touchy with all that leverage!
