Need Help with Hard-to-Find part

Hey everyone,

I need help finding one tiny little part. It is the pivot point for a column shifted FMX automatic '69 Fairlane with a 351w. I have a picture below to illustrate what I need. I'm looking for the pivot that screws into the engine block. I've got a bolt & nut screwed into the block in the picture. This is my temporary solution. Does anyone have, or know where I can get this piece? Even a part number would help a lot! Thanks for your help!!!

if your on the west coast, try A&M auto-wrecking in Sacramento. They specialize in early fords, and especially mustangs. it wouldn't surprize me if they have it considering it's a 351 with an FMX. I believe Jeff is the boss-man and they can be reached at 916-922-8833. I recall him mentioning he ships items too if necessary.

Re: Need Help with Hard-to-Find part

You are about there already.

I pooped out a similar one on my Ranchero two months ago. Is only a 1/2 bolt, coarse threads, and thin nut. I had to amke a few other parts for mine too. But for yours, try a piece of 1/2" water pipe as an extension and spacer.

You may need to find a shorter 1/2 bolt. The head should contact the shif linkage part, then the piece of short pipe, then the nut and screw into block, and lock with nut. You are then done. Not good looking but going in 1-2 hours. Took me that long to find the thin nut in the assorted bolt bucket.

In a month or so, once you get throroughly tired of the adapted one, purchase a correct one.

Wm.
