1967 Coupe Shock Towers

I just got me a 67 coupe with both shock towers in pieces (literally); does anyone has an idea what's involved in replacing them?

After buying the new shock towers, do they get welded or just bolted?

Bolted and welded, very critical part of the structural integrity.

Re: 1967 Coupe Shock Towers

You can purchase the "shock tower-apron assembly" as one piece now. The shock tower and aprons are welded to the frame rail as an assembly for about 500 bucks. It is the only way to go if the frame rail is suspect also. It is all welded.

Re: 1967 Coupe Shock Towers

Orrrr....get rid of them entirely.

There's about 500 ways to go about that...but almost all of them involve running down bars and a stiffening assembly of sorts. A roll cage and subframes work best.

Re: 1967 Coupe Shock Towers

Thanks, that may be an option to pursue once I check on the frame condition

Re: 1967 Coupe Shock Towers

Great stuff nolan62, thanks for the link. My gutt feeling is that I will only need to replace the shock towers and not the whole apron assembly, that'll save me some $400 bucks.
