wheel spacers... 17" Bullitts on a '67

A couple of questions about spacers for fitting 17x8" Bullitt-style wheels onto a '67. I've searched through many threads but haven't found much info about which brands are the best / most reliable.

1. a tire fitment chart on MustangDepot.com says 1.25" spacers work well for the Bullitts with 5.72" backspacing. This makes sense as we're looking for a final backspace of 4.50". What brand are you guys using? Eibach? H&R? Cragar? There are a bunch of no-name spacers on e-bay as well... how do these rate? (guessing not well for the low-buck stuff)

2. NPD sells a kit designed for the specific thing I'm trying to accomplish. Have any of you used this kit? Why are there two studded adapters and two spacers with 10 new (presumably longer) studs? If the spacers are for the rear and adapters for the front, it leads me to believe there are concerns about durability, which leads us to the final question...

3. How durable are these things when mated to a motor making around 400hp and halfway decent tires that grip? The last thing I want to do is peel out at a stoplight, then come grinding to a halt a block later while my rear wheels are rolling into oncoming traffic!

Any help and recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Re: wheel spacers... 17" Bullitts on a '67

1.25" is too much IMO. I have 1" and think that .8" or mabe even .75" would be better. With 1" spacers I have about .4" clearance to the UCA and if lowered too much the 245/45 tires rub. This winter I will lower the UCA's which will move the tires in slightly and maybe fix my tire rubbing.
