Question 390 truck motor

I wonder if anyone can can tell me the difference between the 390 truck motor, and if i should put one in my 67 mustang.

Only thing that I read (quite some time back too) was that basically the engine only came as a two barrel, had low compression ratio so that it ran on lower Oc gasoline, and the conencting rods were a bit lighter, due to it putting out lesser H.P. then too.

Otherwise using correct era applicances, it ought to go on in.

The truck engines are identical but have diffrent cam's and compression ratios like WIlly said.

I believe the rods are identical though... I'll ask my machinist tomorrow...

Check the casting number on the heads and post it here

Depending on what it came out of, and the heads on it, you will need different headers or manifolds

No matter what, the truck manifolds will not work, so we need the casting to let you know what you need
