What is the best set up for supporting the vehicle off the floor (jack locations) and what kind, if any, support needs to be added to door openings when I replace the entire floorpan including the tunnel. I have started the floor removal along the rocker panels to the seat risers inorder to replace the inner rocker panels, which I'm replacing in sections. The upper and lower cowl panels are out right now too. Thanks for any suggestions

Hi Gsb66Coup
I have a '66 Convertible and here's what I did as to being told be some of the guys on this forum (THANK GOD 4 ' EM )
I bought (4) 6 ton floor jacks. Placed two on the front frame and two back on the end of the bumper supports right off the tank. But NOT on THE TANK !
Bought the (4) jacks at: HARBORFRIEGHT great prices here.
The reason I didn't place the jacks on the Inner Rockers is I was replacing them.
Next and MOST IMPORTANT for my restoration project: Replacing Inner Rockers & Floor Pans on both sides. I needed the DOOR SUPPORTS so my convertible wouldn't SAG in the middle. If I didn't buy and install those GREAT DOOR SUPPORTS and mig welded my front and rear floor pans in ~ I'D BE REALLY MESS-UP.
The SAG would not be noticable as I mig welded all my pans in and when it came time to put my doors back on again: NO WAY the entire door frames would be out of shape and my doors would NEVER FIT.
I looked at GOOGLE for: Car Door Supports and it came up with these GREAT DOOR SUPPORTS. I paid about $200.00 bucks but worth every penny. The supports don't come with nuts and bolts you got to go to HomeDepot (another hang-out of mine . . . lol)
The door support and very, very cool and strong. It hooks-up to the 4 bolt holds at the tranny mount inside the car. and streches out to the doors.
I wish I learned how to send a picture(s) sorry I not that good YET.
You got the idea though. As far as a coupe is concerned I really don't know if its neccessary to buy the door supports. The fact that being you have a roof on your coupe which is not the case with my convertible.
But I leave that answer up to the GREAT GUYS on this forum.
If there is any other questions you need answered I'll try to accomodate you.
GOD BLESS
Schooner
