351c 4v into 66 coupe
I am looking for a "swap kit" or at least swap headers to fit my 351c 4v into a 1966 coupe. I haven't seen these anywhere, although I've heard they are around.

I read this also, the problem is, all the catalogs referenced are like 10 years old. I haven't found even one of the afore mentioned places, that has these. bummer.

Re: 351c 4v into 66 coupe
well, for one, this cleveland is what I found available. But mostly, everything I've read/heard says cleveland is the higher performance more sought after of the two. especially when its a 4v with a D2AE-CA block.
Do you see it another way?

Re: 351c 4v into 66 coupe
Headers are available for the 351 C swap, there is one company in the country that makes them, Tubular Automotive, they are in Rockville, Mass. They bend them after you send the money. I have done the swap, it is a very tight fit. If you don't already have the cleveland, based on experience, I would recommend a 347c.i. small block as first choice, a stroked windsor as second choice and a stroked cleveland as third choice. That is assuming you are going to use an aftermarket aluminum head on the 347 or windsor. If you are going to use stock iron heads on whatever you put in there, then by all means use the cleveland. All that being said you will get the best handling and braking and great performance with the 347 (with good aftermarket heads) and be the easiest to work on. That is my opinion. I like the cleveland motor but in the early Mustang you can't change the plugs on the right side without removing the valve cover and jacking up the engine.

Re: 351c 4v into 66 coupe
I appreciate the input! I have indeed bought the motor already. I understand its going to be a tight fit and I am preparing (mentally) for it. You say have done this swap? Check out these headers I found at mustangs unlimited.com part # es7a.
I am assuming this motor will bolt up to my c4. Is that what you used?

Re: 351c 4v into 66 coupe
One more thing, I just bought this motor, and I feel like I got a pretty good deal on it. What do you think a motor like this is worth? Its (351c D2AE-CA) completely rebuilt, roller rockers, boss cam, 4v heads, high performance intake, bell housing, flex plate, Holley carb, msd igintion, aluminum water pump. All Brand new.

Re: 351c 4v into 66 coupe
Those are the headers made by Tubular Automotive, Rockland, Mass. (781-878-9875). That is what I used. You might get a better price if you call them direct. I paid about $325 but that was about 5 years ago. You will have to relocate the oil filter. Before dropping your motor in make sure an export brace and monte carlo bar fit without problems, otherwise you will really have problems with fitting a cleveland in there, but if the engine compartment is dimensionally correct the cleveland will drop right in (but will be extremely tight on the right side). You will have to use an aluminum radiator or use a wider radiator (and therefore widening the opening in the radiator support). In addition to that I had to modify my front valance, I bought a repro and cut it and rewelded it to be like a 69-70 (the 65-66 blocks too much airflow). I used a Toploader but a C4 will be no problem. Use your 65-66 motor mounts.
