Re: I found a 1968 R Code Fastback. Whats the ballpark value?

Wow! I was talking about NON built engines..

I'm Gary, and I am held in very low regard around here in every facet imaginable, although I am well loved, I am also well hated and I never shut up

In Fact, some big slow Tard here on FM thinks his 70 something Vomit 250 2V, can beat my 61 Falcon Moredoor 202 1V LMAO (maybe it can but not when I'm done with my 200 build

I hope to see you around a lot and learn some schitt about racing from you!

Later!

FE

Naaa you seem alright I am sure . How fast ya go depends on where ya place well spent money on a car or in a motor . We got a 4 cy that goes in a pinto that will run mid 11s in a quarter . But a speed shop has alot of stuff laying around . Thing is through the years people wishes things built of all types and things like little wify shuts them down . Thats when they wish we buy back alot lol. Anything will run anything . I donot listen to people wishing to race , no sence in it , besides we hold records in many classes anyway . I turn a 427 9300 rpms out the gate . Yes a fe , will turn 10 grand . We goto sanoma cal to run at track . The 66 fairlane I put up was at that track .

That's sweet!

I plan on pushing over 220 HP out of my +.040 200, it just takes money and patience and a little modification on the old Log head I got And I got time, just wiating on teh developement money... I.E. Burbon and a long weekend

I never knew you could turn 10K with an FE but they're my favorite style Ford motor and I'd love to know the secret!

Gave a good day! I got to do an estimate on a partial resto on a 67 Galaxie L8R

Hey Rcode427

You said:
As for his 68 I got a matching motor for that car and I know it is a 428 cj . It will cost a arm and le to put it back but in the end I am sure its worth it

You have a complete 428 cj for the car? Are you interested in selling it and if so, how much, whats condition etc.

Thanks
Dave

Dave[/ I goto swap meets with a speed shop . I have alot of motors I was saving for myself rare hard to find but being I am building 2 motors I need to let go of some I was saving . At the shop there is many 428 motors . One in question is brand new rebuilt . I think there is 4000 dollars on it . I know the motor is compleate but have the wrong heads and intake for a cj . Cj heads are 6090-n with big valves . I donot remember what heads and intake they have but they are wrong for this motor but a good price on it anyway . We bought that motor from another speed shop that built it for a customer that never picked it up . We paid the bill and it sits at the shop . I was about to buy it myself being a new rebuilt and all but my speed shop stated he will build me me one with more hp . I can get ya any kind of motor . I think it is well worth cost for 4000 , I may have a set of 6090-n heads to place with it have to look for I just sold 2 sets .

Re: I found a 1968 R Code Fastback. Whats the ballpark value?

I was talking about an arm and leg to rebuild the whole R code car , not the motor . When he finishes the r code car he can get back out of it what he put into the car as a whole if a sell was needed . As you know hp cost , standard fe motors are as well but reasonable . There are all kinds with dif price tags mostly need a rebuild . We take a order and build to specs as the owner wishes . Mostly fe motors . There is mopar there as well . We set the record in nhra with the FIRST small block mopar in the big

I see you live in fredrick md . You lucky dog , the shop I am talking about is in md also , town of lexington park . I was outside and thought of another motor . It is not mine but for sale . The motor you can hear it run on a stand . The heads on the motor is not cjs but there is a set that comes with the motor that is 6090-n. As well the car also . It is a r code 1968 fairlane not too bad of shape . Motor and car can be bought for 5000 . I know what he has in it as well for I found the motor to match the car he had . He bought it and now wants to sell all he has , car and motor . He has way too many projects to deal with . Not bad 5 grand for a r code car with motor , I think its an automatic however .

Re: I found a 1968 R Code Fastback. Whats the ballpark value?

As soon as the car was back-halfed and tubbed it lost most of it's collector value. It is now a hotrod and the value of a rod depends completely on the buyer and seller. If it was in stock condition and all original it would be worth $14000 to $31000. Depending on condition. The $31000 is for showroom complete restoration. Source: Old Car Price Guide

Re: I found a 1968 R Code Fastback. Whats the ballpark value?

Mustangs from 68-70, especially R code cars are really a hot ticket presently. They were desirable back then and remain that way today. the only hitch to remember with any car no matter what the condition, is why are you buying it? Is it as an investment and you want to make a great return or is it to keep and enjoy and realize that cars can also be a money pit as they have always been. if you are buying it because you always wanted one and plan on keeping it know matter what then 4 grand, as mentioned earlier, is probably fine as long as the original block comes with it. it will be extremely costly to restore if you are paying someone to do it, obviously. If you can do some of the work yourself great. Remember, thevalues of these vehicles is only strong as long as the generation who loves them is still around to buy them. It is just like Model t's and 30'-50's cars used to be. As that generation who cherished them is dying off their prices are starting to fall. If you can get it back together in a reasonably short amount of time and document it is what it is for under $40,000, you are probably safe. Barret Jackson extreme value's only apply to trailer queens or cars that were made in extremely low numbers. I noticed this year that the runaway prices are starting to stable a little and in some cases drop. A driver, with typical chips and the like won't be worth as much. I watch people all the time pay way too much for a POS. I have been fortunate, My 69 Mach 1 I have had since 1980. I paid $1,500 or it back then when I was 16 and drove it for about 8 years. It is now on a rotissiere being fully restored. I have a good friend who has a few and his S code 68 390 4speed GT, which is mostly original and gorgeous, is n the $20,000-$24000 range if he finds the right buyer. It is not a trailer queen and is driven. Just think guys one day imports and 80's -90's muscle will be all the rage, even though the young don't realize they are all alike and had very few options to make them unique, which is why the oldies are so valuable. Just my 2 cents.
