1969 window glass adjustment

Anyone have a link to a good site showing adjustment of the side door glass / quarter windows?
Or a step by step procedure for adjusting them properly?

Thanks..John

A Ford shop manual will be your best friend while owing a classic Ford. You'll find everything in there. For 1969 I believe it's a four volume set. Hope this helps

did you ever think of going with the 1970 mustang bolt in setup? It is easier to install then the factory 69 bond in . Are you trying to adjust the window fitment? Is the back edge sticking out too much or in too much? This is because someone rebonded the glass into the brackets and scraped out the old bonding. The old bonding is the alignment. If scraped and not positioned in place it will not line up very well. This why Ford went back to bolt in in 70.

Re: 1969 window glass adjustment

Now I know my problem. After repainting my 69-351c coupe, adjusting the windows...front and rear..is my remaining issue. Since this is a second car to my 69-302, I don't want to convert to 70 glass plus I bought good used glass of ebay several years ago to install in this car. Rats..look like they will have to come out and be reglued.

Maybe not. Is this coupe or fastback? I have 3 fastback door windows. 2 passengers and one drivers, don't ask just picked up the spare somewhere along the way. if you need some that to my knowledge have not been reglued, let me know.

***Nevermind I just saw the bottom of your response that you had 2 coupes.

Wink Re: 1969 window glass adjustment

Got them just about perfect now. Reassembling the car i did reglue the glass into the brackets but I know i have them bang on as far as positioning in the brackets and tilt in / out. There was an article quite some time ago in one of the Mustang mags. on how to properly glue them.

The problem arises from the fact that the window is much thinner than the slot in the bracket and therefore when you're setting the glue there is no real way to let it harden in the correct fitment unless you install the window and wind it up.

I made small rubber shims of equal thickness and placed them on both sides of the glass. Then i used urethane that the window installers use and squeezed the glass down into the slots with the shims keeping it perfectly aligned.
Once the urethane hardened the glass is there to stay and can be installed and finally adjusted.
Installing the window fuzzies sure helps as well.

Thanks for all the input.
Oh, i do have the 4 volume set for the 69 as well. The exploded diagrams are great but no instructions as to how to install/adjust.

thanks again......John

Re: 1969 window glass adjustment

Thanks mustang4665, but I've got a coupe. I will probably pull the doors panels and take some measurements from my 302 coupe since these windows are original..had the car 13 years, 2nd owner. this should get me close.
