Lock Striker Pin

Just installed a new passanger side door from NPD on my 66. The striker pin lifts the door when closed. Im having a little trouble loosening the screws that hold it in place. Anyone have a trick to help me with this. Thanks Ed

Re: Lock Striker Pin

You need a pair of BFV 's (big farkin Vicegrips...)

The screw is hard to bust loose and if you have the bolt nut and plate type it's hard also...

Grunt a lot, it usually works...

It is what I use to take the screws on and off....

Re: Lock Striker Pin

Once you get them out replace them with Flat Socket Head Cap Screws of the same dimensions, as long as you are concours specific.

Re: Lock Striker Pin

You could alway's adjust the door to make it fit the latch

Re: Lock Striker Pin

When the door latches closed, do the body lines line up or is the door too high at the rear where it meets the quarter panel? If the body lines are correct, you'll need to adjust the door up at the hinges. If the door sits too high when closed you'll have to adjust the striker down. If you adjust the striker, be sure you use the correct phillips screwdriver to fit the screws, if it doesn't fit correctly you could strip the screw heads. I keep tension on the screwdriver to loosen and strike it with a hammer.
