Re: 1969 Ford Mustang Fastback 302

I responded yesterday but on the other thread...

You and Pop's get all the Kudo's for staying stock with it
{appearance wise}

If you get teh old motor back, and you put a stroker kit in it it will have MORE than enoguh HP to make is streetable and still pretty mean

Even the stock 302 build with some good porting of the heads and a good cam and hedders and a 4V will be an engine not to laugh at...

Personally I think strokers are overkill, UNLESS you're trying to beat every car you see.

Stock parts and a little work are pretty damn tough, or they wouldn't have made them fo so long...

I was reading one person's reply today and I was wondering about the price. Would it run about the same for one of these stroker kits as it would to port the heads and stuff like that .

You have the block machined as necessary. This particular kit requires balancing. Figure $300~400 or so for that, depending.

You can do the rest of the engine any way you like. If you decide to port the heads, then do it or have it done. Get the flow numbers then talk to a cam company with those numbers and the specs for the rest of the car (weight, trans, gear, tires) about how you want it to run. If you decide to use an automatic, the head data, CID, cam data and the rest will be needed to recommend a torque converter.

Check the price on the 331 kit, then price getting a stock rotating assembly + forged pistons ready - including some I beam rods and their prep. You'll find it cost effective. The more CID the engine has, the better it breaths and the better any other mods work. Cheap power and you're spending the money anyway.
