Radiator fan question

Looking for some advice. Running a standard flex fan with standard (original) radiator on my '70 Mustang fastback with 351 Windsor. Running a serpentine belt so after over heating several times, I realized a reverse rotation water pump was needed to draw coolant into the intake etc. Having figured that out, is there a different fan blade I should be running? Is there a certain number of blades and or blade rotation I should be looking at for better cooling? Or does it make a difference at all? Thanks for the help.

Is the blade now pushing air through the radiator instead of pulling it through? Test with a few strips of light paper in front of the radiator while running.

Re: Radiator fan question

Yes you would need the matching fan to run in the same direction as the water pump or else stick an electric fan on it.

Re: Radiator fan question

Ok. So, if the water pump rotation is counter clockwise then the fan blades should be specific for counter clockwise in the way their made? I can't just "flip" the fan blade over so the fins are reversed right? Do they make specific blades for counter clockwise water pumps? Electric is looking more and more feasible but now i'm curious. Thanks again.

Yes they make specific blades for the reverse rotation..You need one off of a 5.0 powered mustang,F-150,crown vic etc..
