Alignment shop in SF Bay Area?

Does anyone know a good alignment shop in the San Francisco / Oakland area that does good work on our old cars? Both my 67 Mustang and my brothers 67 Camaro need aligning, and I just don't trust them to a quickie shop that 99.9% of the time works on Hondas and minivans.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks for the info. What is the name of the shop? I'm in Richmond, so I'm not too far from fairfield. I could combine an alignment with a trip to the outlet stores...

Take it to WHEEL WORKS, on Texas Street in Fairfield, just 4 miles off the I-80.
They do a very thurough job and it costs $79 bucks +tax.

I've had good luck taking my cars to several "bear" alignment shops. Most of them have real steering suspension mechanics that can do the work manually. Most of the chain shops rely on the computer for everything.

My reasoning is these cars are like remodeling an old house. Nothing is "square" you have to build/repair based on what is existing not on factory specs (most of the chain shops don't even have spec or entries in the computer for our old iron). There was a shop in San Jose, Ca that I used to go to all the time...its just a couple of blocks west of Compaq stadium (the Shark Tank). The original owner, a grouchy old a$$, retired about 10 years ago, sold the place. It went down hill for a few years, but then started hireing some decent guys again. It been a few years but I think they are still in business. I used to see a lot of competition cars being brought in for suspension set up too.

Beowolf, That sounds like Precision Frame. They were good. They got bought by Micheals Auto in Willow Glen. Now they are part of a one stop.. bodywork, mechanics, frame and suspension.. Now they are like everyone else. $$$ and no good.

I know it's a long way from the OP, but there is a place in Mountain View that is supposed to be good. Custom Alignment.

Percision...yeah, that sounds like the place. As a point of trivia - every time I went there (when the old guy was in charge) it was an adventure. He was not too shy about chew off the back pockets of a tech, in front of customers, if his work was below the mark. I really felt sorry for this older lady that worked the front office - he used to rag on her for what seemed like no reason at all...I later found out that she was his wife. Poor thing!

Sorry to hear they went back down the drain - I knew there was a reason I started looking for another place. I just couldn't remember the reason. Funny thing, as soon as a shop gets (or inherits) a decent reputation, they seem to go into overdrive finding a way to ruin it.

Personally, I don't mind paying a little more - as long as they do the work right the first time. I hate to jump on the band wagon - but I think a lot of the problem is finding new guys that actually enjoy working on cars and don't think they learned all there is to know from attending 12 or 18 months at Wyotech? There actually were cars that still run with out computers....who'd a thunk it?
