TCP coilover questions
I have a couple questions for those of you who have the tcp front coilover suspension system.
do you have the varishock 1 or 2 option?
what spring rate are you running?
is your car full race, street or both?
and what you think of the system overall?
iv'e been really interested in this system for my 66 coupe some time now. the reason why i ask is to see what other people have done through the use of this system.
currently, im building my coupe for both the steet and track. mainly the car will used for steet use but taking it out to leguna every other weekend sounds awesome.
i have searched a ton on here for the tcp system and most threads are other individuals comparing the system with rrs or just saying how nice the quality is.
thank you,
-gabe

Re: TCP coilover questions
I have the TCP coilover suspension on my 70 mustang. I have the varishock option 2. I don't think there was a option 1 last year. The +/- dual adjustments on the shock is very good. I think my spring rate is 450 ft/lbs. TCP recommended the SR for my car on the street. I think they were right on with the recomendation. At the same time I put on a TCP rack. The TCP stuff improved my cars handling like night and day.

awesome, thanks for the info!
i just bought the front coil over suspension for my 66. just got the basic option 1 with 450 springs. its mainly going to be a street car with the occasional trip leguna so no need to go all out.
next im thinking about getting the rack. i cant wait, it should be really fun.

Re: TCP coilover questions
You will be happy with the coilover setup. Make sure the adjustment nuts on the upper control arm are easy to turn before you install them. One of mine is too tight and I should have asked for a replacement. Get the rack. I use the manual TCP rack and I am very happy with the choice.

Re: TCP coilover questions
alan,
thanks for the heads up on the upper control arms. i checked them a few minutes ago and they are perfect.
next, im planning on getting the subframe connectors and middle brace. i realy want to get the rack but im going to wait untill i take the engine out for a rebuild so it is 10x easier.
alan, are you running the entire tcp setup (front coilovers, engine brace, rack, subframes, rear pushrod system, etc etc) ???

Re: TCP coilover questions
Since I had to disconnect the front tie rods, remove the lower control arm bolts and get an alignment, I decided to add the R&P. The only problem I ran into was the need to replace my headers because they wouldn't fit with the rack. I then added FPA headers and a magnaflow exhaust system. Kind of the domino effect. I have the TCP subframe connectors sitting in the garage ready for install. If I can fit the center brace on with my exhaust, I will add it later. TCP said the center brace very likely will interfere with the exhaust system. My front seems pretty stiff with a good 1 piece export export brace. I have heard (from a bb mustang owner) the addition of the bar across the shock towers was a big improvement.

Re: TCP coilover questions
alan, thats pretty much the same thing i want to do down the road.
im sure you could just have the magnaflow system bent upward to hug the floor pans to get that x-brace to fit. the only problem with that is your toesies might get a little warm. do you have the 2 1/2 or 3 inch system?
yeah, the addition of the mante carlo bar is a must. it made a world of difference on my fathers 64 1/2.

Re: TCP coilover questions
The 2.5" dia pipes needed only slight bending near the header collectors. I wanted the least amount of non mandel bendings for the best flow. The Fit is great.

Re: TCP coilover questions
Alan, I also have a '70 stang, and i am planning on the TCP rackand pinion/ font coilover kit. What engine do you have and what kind of headers did you have before you replaced them?
