Re: power steering vs manual steering

I have manual steering on my 64 1/2 Mustang and 68 Camaro. The only time I wished I had power steering is when I am parallel parking. Other than that, I am fine with manual steering.

Re: power steering vs manual steering

Both race cars here use manual steer. I prefer it, actually. The Mustang was a PS car, so with a 14" wheel it's a bit stiff backing into the pit space, but it's not bad. My wife drives that one.

Re: power steering vs manual steering

I seem to be in the minority that actually liked the power steering on my mustang..I agree the manual steering does have a little more road feel to it though..I switched mine to manual using one of the adaptors that replaces the control valve..I agree with Ckelly....It's a little stiff when your sitting still but not too bad when your underway..

Re: power steering vs manual steering

I don't mind manual steer at all. Heck, even the girlfriend can drive it fine, with 235's on the front, and she's 5' tall.

She rarely drives, but still says "you can feel what you're doing so much better." And I tend to agree.
