Rod bolt upgrade

Hi all.
If I wanted to install 3/8 bolts in some 289/302 rods can I just drill them out to suit? Are there any casting differences between the hipo rods which have the larger bolts?

Thanks

Re: Rod bolt upgrade

I gave you an answer in the Stroker section that you posted in.

By the way, multiple posts are not needed on this site in order to get replies.

Have a nice day!

dennis111, I respectfully disagree with your opinion. I have had great success with getting the requested information I need by posting both in this forum and the all ford tech board. I should, however, add the following caveat. I normally state in one thread or the other that I am "double posting", and I will keep both threads updated with the latest information. That facilitates the seldom used "search function".

My $0.02.

Re: Rod bolt upgrade

There is not enough rod material to drill to 3/8" but it is common to go to a special 11/32" rod bolt on the 289/302 for added strength. You should not drill them yourself - have it done by a machine shop where they use a mill to properly ream the holes.
