Is this car worth it?

Please Help!
I have never owned a classic muscle car, but it has always been my dream. In my csearch for my first mustang project, I have come across a 1970 Cyclone GT with the original 429 CJ engine. It has the 4 bolt Dove Heads, and the 4bbl carb of course. There are two problems: the front right panel will need replacing and the block is cracked. i have found an orginal 429SCJ block that I could use as a replacement. Is this car worth paying the wanted price of $1500. (I would have to buy the replacment block for about $700 extra). Also, could anyone decifer the vin code: 0h16N511868. Please Help!

At that price I would have the VIN number checked and make sure I got a good clear title too.

If it is an original 429CJ, it will have D0OE stamped on the head. Double check the VIN--I'm not sure if Cyclones came with Thunderjet engines.

0 = 1970
H = Lorain assembly plant
16 = Cyclone Gt 2-door hardtop
N= 429-4V (non-CJ; Thunderjet)
511868 = 11,868th car made at Lorain plant

To be a 429CJ/SCJ it would have to have a C or J engine code in the vin. You can use any standard 429 block to replace the one in the car, no need spend the $$ for a CJ block.

FWIW, it's still a big block Cyclone GT. They are getting hotter as the more popular cars get ever more expensive. If you do nothing else, I would buy it to flip on eBay, $1500 leaves a lot of room for profit......
