Manual transmission: Clutch cable kit

Hi guys,

I already done a research on the forum but I prefer writing on new topic for my question. I've already have late bellhousing and clutch fork in order to install this winter a clutch cable kit.

For you, which product is the best: Ron Morris or Modern Driveline?

I read that Ron Morris kit does use the existing clutch hole in the firewall and Moder Driveline one does require to drill a new hole.

Which one is the easiest to install, does work the best?

Thanks for your help.

Dylan

I've got the RMP one and it works fine. Kind of funky, the cable end is secured and the clutch pedal moves the cable housing.

Mustang Steve makes a very nice roller bearing pedal cable conversion kit, you might check his site out as well.

The Mustang Steve kit works better? The price is cheaper so was wondering if it's the best clutch cable kit setup?

Re: Manual transmission: Clutch cable kit

I've never used Mustang Steve's kit but I've heard several people rave about it. I think it's a bit more labor intensive (i.e. requires some welding/fab work) than the RMP kit but has more adjustability and leverage built in.

That said, I've had no problems with the Ron Morris kit. Works fine without excessive pedal effort, good feel.

Re: Manual transmission: Clutch cable kit

What kind of clutch do you have? I've a 3 long fingers style and I read that it does require to much effort on the pedal and so, the clutch cable isn't recommended.

Do you agree? Maybe you've a diaphragm clutch style?

Thanks for asking this stuff sponge. I am gathering the parts to do a switch to a T-5 right now and signed on here to ask the same questions. I have a 64.5 Mustang with a 289.

No problem blidzy. It's always a good idea to share experiences.

I made a complete conversion on my ride (automatic trans to manual) so if you've some questions, feel free to ask them on the forum, it's a very good one.

I have a T-5 on the way right now. It also includes the bellhousing. Which clutch setup did you go with?

A Spec stage II clutch but if you're car has already a manual trans, you probably can keep the clutch. A T5 has 10 splines for input shaft.

Re: Manual transmission: Clutch cable kit

My car has a C-4 right now so I will need a clutch as well as a block plate for a manual.
