1971 351c

I have a 351c out of a 1971 mustang that I need a transmission for. It is going in a 1961 Ford F-100. Any thoughts or recommendations on a tranny and converter size? Is there only one type of AOD tranny?

Re: 1971 351c

The most commonly used overdrive automatic is the AOD, which will bolt directly to a 351C, as long as it was originally installed on a 302 or 351W engine. If it was from a 302/5.0, you'd need to swap the flexplate for one with 28ox imbalance, vs the 81-up 302's 50oz imbalance.

I can't vouch for any 6cyl compatibility.

Converter selection depends heavily on the build of the motor, vehicle weight, intended usage, etc.....
