67 Mustang Steering Column Bracket

Here is my head scratcher, some time ago I swapped out my clutch/brake support bracket with roller brngs etc for the cable clutch.

I snugged down the studs into column support/brake clutch bracket. Worked great, but after driving I noticed a little play in the column so I snugged em some more and the nut inside the brake/clutch support bracket starts spinning inside the assembly. Cant tighten, cant loosen!

I have another brake/clutch bracket, but really dont want to pull it out again now, I will do that when I strip the car for painting etc later.

Anyone got a quick fix or way to remove/replace the threaded stud/nut - again, not looking to replace that whole thing right now.

Thanks

Re: 67 Mustang Steering Column Bracket

If you remove the gauge cluster you can get access to the top of the "cage" that the nut is held in by. I would then try to jam the nut with a large flat bladed screwdriver or similar. OR if a bit of the stud is showing clamp a vice grip on the end and tighten/loosen as desired. My cluster is out on my '67 so I had a look and it is quite easy to access it.

Thanks, I can see the stud end, but the whole mess is turning inside the cage assmbly.
The guage cluster route sounds like a good way to go, thanks Capt.
