'67 coupe..what's it worth?

http://www.fordmuscle.com/forums/mak...g-t-coupe.html

original 6 cylinder coupe, Lime Gold original color...nothing special about it...

Well, I really really REALLY don't want to do this, but, due to my career, I might have to let it go. I have had the car since 1997. I had it media blasted on a rotisserie, etch primer, new floor pans, new right rear quarter, new battery tray all welded in. The car currently sits in the green primer shown above. The rest of the body panels (front fenders, doors, hood, trunk lid) are in good shape, but I need to get them stripped and primered. NO RUST at all on this car. Evey last inch of rust has been blasted out and replaced/repaired.

To go with it, I have a brand new set of subframe connectors, 6 point roll cage, and a brand new SSBC disc brake conversion, as well as front end kit, and new reverse eye springs.

I also have an 8 inch, with rebuild kit, 4.11:1 gears, spool. C-5 trans rebuilt to hold about 450 HP. Dissassembled 289, good shape, pretty much complete minus starter and alternator.

The rest of the pieces parts are in boxes, and a person COULD put the car back to original shape. Seats (black-front and rear) are in very good shape. I planned on going the T/A coupe route, no interior, just gauges seats and a cage.

I see the prices of coupes aren't very high. I would like to think I could get around $6000 for this as is. But, I thought I would get your thoughts first. Should I finish the final body work, or sell as is? I hate to put any more money into it, I'm at a point where I spend about 8 months a year in the middle east, and time is a HUGE issue. Oh, and I am going to move to England, oh, and my wife is having our 3rd kid....sob sob...what do you think? I can take more pics if req'd.

Thanks, and I'm looing for brutal honesty here. JL

I am so sorry that you have to drop this project.

But I'm almost positive you can't get more than about $1,200, even with the work already done...

There are just sooooo many out there that sell for $5K to $8K that have Many thousands more into them, and I'm positive they put more in than they get out...

P.S. For what it's worth, car's in your car's condition over tha past 30 day's on fleaybay rarely reached $800 bucks...

Re: '67 coupe..what's it worth?

I was in the same position as you but without the travel and moving issue. I had sunk so much time, $, blood, sweat and tears into my project that I just couldn't justify selling it. In the long run I knew I would be disappointed in myself for quitting. Now I'm finally to the point where I'm reassembling and its much more satisfying to watch it go back together than it is to tear it apart.

hahaha, I WISH I was at the reassembly point! DAMN I hate body work...I am glad my car was in VERY good shape rust-wise. If my OCD would let me sleep at night, I COULD get away with cutting a lot of corners...I am sure I'll be posting pics in about 10 years..hahah

Re: '67 coupe..what's it worth?

Mine was a rusty hunk of garbage. 2 quarter panels, 4 floor pans, lower cowl, 2 wheel wells, 3 engine bay aprons 1 door shell front and rear valence and I'm thinking of replacing the tail light panel. Why not at this poiint, its only been 5 years. I only had 1 kid when I started now I have 3. I thought I was getting prett good at this stuff until i stopped by a pro shop the other day. I was humbled quickly....felt much like a 'special needs' auto restorer and was embarrassed to show them what I had done.

That's crap - and using eBay as a price definer is even less...well, don't.

Lessee - $15.5K for a china produced body shell that requires another $5K or rework to be ready for paint, and here we have a clean USA steel version just about ready to go. If you can't get 5~6K for that pile you're talking to the wrong people. Just my opinion. 6 cylinder beaters were going for $3500 in Houston back in 1996.

Re: '67 coupe..what's it worth?

yeah, I saw a 67(?) F/B in egay the other day, and he wanted a bit for it, and the funny thing was, that my car was in as good as, if not BETTER shape...

oh, and BONFIRE, I know what you mean! On my 3rd kid now. I think of all the things I did in that car when I was single (get your minds outta the gutter), and how it sits now...I also went to a hot rod shop the other day....32 coupes for DAYS...it nauseated me...

I won't say that I WON'T sell the car, but I have to get some $$$ from my investment. If that car has to be rolling and running for that to happen, well, it is going to sit in storage until I get back stateside in 3 or 4 years...Even IF I could only get $1200 for it, well, the only thing the buyer is gonna get is the BODY SHELL..I have more than $1200 in blasting, priming, sheetmetal than that....the suspension was almost $2500...and I'm noteven IN the trans, rearend, etc....thanks for the tips no matter WHAT it's worth...
