painting interior floor

ive just had some welding done to the floor and that is painted up and protected, the rest of the floor is a combinations of original paint, and areas of surface rust, also seam sealer, and some patches various gunge..

just wonderting what people recommend for a paint that i can go over the whole interior floor (with a brush) with to protect from future potential rust , and how would i prep the already painted area, i have some por 15 metalready to use on the surface rust. i guess i just wnt to know what i can use that will go over both metalready prepped metal and pre existing paint?

would it make more sense to get it blasted and painted?

cheers,

Mark

Wink Re: painting interior floor

My personal car a '65 f/b was in the same condition, I would strip the car of all interior, scrap/off the bulk seam filler with a good sharpe putty knife, you can reapply seam filler if needed, I didn't. Next was serious wire brushing, than more brushing on a old drill, next came a acid "ospho" wash. Now is time for a compatable bonding agent, and on with a serious coat of the por15. It's great, still there with no signs of rust. I finished/off with 2 layers of Lowe's a/c wrap insulation. Different car now in maintance and quiteness. Oh, I also did the bottom in the same matter in cleaning and finished/off with por15 and 2 layers of the spray/bomb paintable undercoater. Car looks new again.

Re: painting interior floor

I am putting floors in mine right now, so I'm starting from bare metal. I plan to seam seal, prime, and shoot regular paint. I am not running carpet, bare paint only (race car). I THOUGHT about LineX, or Rhino lining on the interior floors, as well as underneath. Floor pans SUCK to replace, and I really don't want to EVER do that again. KBS Coatings makes a nice sealant. From what I gather, it is better than POR 15, and it comes in multiple colors. I would say regular paint should work, just scuff it up, clean it, prime, and paint. Just my $0.02. Let me know what you come up with.
